This is the Anniversary of One of the Most Important Days in Hockey History. In 1972 Bobby Hull announces he'll leave the Chicago Blackhawks to sign a $1,000,000 contract with the Winnipeg Jets of the fledgling WHA.
The WHA went from fantasy to reality -- and the game would never be the same.
Ulf Nilsson on the Winnipeg Jets "Hotline" and linemates Anders Hedberg and Bobby Hull:
"Truthfully, I had the toughest job on the line. Bobby and Anders both wanted to score goals.
If I passed to Anders for a goal I heard it from Bobby.
If I passed to Bobby for a goal I heard it from Anders.
When I took a shot I heard it from both of them."
