We are pleased to announce that Whalers founder Howard Baldwin's autobiography "Slim and None" will be available this fall. Whaler Nation will have exclusive book excerpts, event info and inside details regarding his fascinating book.
The book title refers to the chances the media gave Baldwin of getting the Whalers and the WHA off the ground. Of course, he succeeded and by the time he left Hartford in 1990, the Whalers were one of the NHL's most stable franchises. "Slim and None" offers amazing stories about Howard's days with the expansion Philadelphia Flyers, the New England and Hartford Whalers, the WHA, Pittsburgh Penguins and San Jose Sharks (he founded the franchise) and his stint with the AHL CT Whale. Howard also offers an inside glimpse of NHL boardrooms during some of the most dynamic times in hockey history (1972-1998). We were the first to read the original manusscript and contributed to much of the historic background in the final book.
